The next time someone teases you about playing in your high school band, rattle off the names of these famous people that participated in their high school bands. There’s a good chance that many, if not most, of these now famous people were also teased at some point, for playing in their high school band. It may surprise you to know that each of these celebrities became famous for their artistic talents and went on to become world-class musicians, movie producers, professional sports players, famous writers, educators and even a US president. You can bet the students who once teased these now famous faces are singing a different tune.
Students who play in high school marching bands are following in the footsteps of many famous people, some of whom are considered amongst the hottest celebrities of all time. Included on this marching band list includes names such as Julia Roberts, Halle Berry, Tommy Lee and Samuel L. Jackson. While Julia played the clarinet, Halle sounded the flute, Samuel favored the French Horn and Tommy Lee never moved away from playing the drums
Just as Tommy Lee continued to advance his music career with Motley Crue, many other famous faces also carried on in their musical dreams. Take Celine Dion for example, who played the flute as did Gwen Stefani . Gloria Estefan began her rhythm with the clarinet while Lionel Richie started with the saxophone. Other famous musicians who played in high school bands include Aretha Franklin, Steven Tyler and Trent Reznor.
Famous actors such as Calista Flockhart, Richard Gere, Woody Allen, Tom Selleck and Jennifer Garner all marched to the beat of their high school band, while the wildly successful New York businessperson, economist, scientist and politician Alan Greenspan played the clarinet for his high school band. Even movie producer Steven Spielberg, basketball star Vince Carter and previous president Bill Clinton, all marched to the same cultural beat.
